College Football
Playing for one of our four BUCS teams might not be for everyone, or for some, you may feel like it isn’t enough. Oxford University boasts many opportunities to play football alongside your studies, and we encourage all genders and levels of experience to highly consider playing for their college team. The college program is one of the largest in the country, giving everyone the opportunity to play.
College football is an incredibly important part of football at Oxford University. Inter-college leagues run by OUAFC have over 110 teams and 1500 players competing in weekly games, making football the largest participation sport in the university. This provides the opportunity for players of all calibre to play weekly officiated football matches with what will inevitably be some of your best friends. The college football system is split into 3 leagues with 2 teams being promoted / relegated each year in each division. The current standings can be found here. Alongside this, colleges also compete in the annual Cuppers and the ‘Hassan’s Cup’ plate competition.
We would encourage everyone to get involved with college football as much as possible as it is incredibly fun, rewarding, and also strong performances could help you land yourself a spot in a University team. To join your college team simply talk to your college sports rep or find your college captain.
