Mickey Lewis (15 February 1965 - 5 March 2021) was an English professional footballer and manager who played for West Bromwich Albion; Oxford United and Derby. He was the caretaker of Oxford United from October 1999 to February 2000, and then again in 2014, before being appointed assistant manager to Hayes and Reading United in May 2016.
Mickey joined OUAFC in early 2002, starting his 18 year tenure at the club. During this period Mickey inspired a “hat-trick of Varsity wins in his first three years”, with his side being beaten on only three occasions over a period of 90 minutes. His tragic passing in 2021 has saddened and shocked all those that know him, with the club losing “an incredibly kind, generous, and funny man who taught us much more than football”.
In his memory, the club has set up a Mickey Lewis Memorial Fund which aims to ensure his legacy continues within OUAFC, and a GoFundMe has been established on behalf of his loving wife Suzanne Lewis.
